97 Mountain Laurel Court sits at the end of a cul-de-sac in Aspen’s Mountain Valley neighborhood, backing up to US Forest Service land with dramatic views of Rocky Mountain’s Independence Pass. The private lot houses a 3,500 square foot single-family residence that offers a lot of bang for its buck. Due to tight restraints and a restrictive site, our job was to make a smaller home equally functional to its larger counterparts.
All of the home’s main rooms, including living, dining and master bedroom, exist on a single floor, with guest and auxiliary spaces above and below. The dining room is cantilevered over the rear of the home to mimic the feel of dining in a tree-house. Natural materials and large window expanses create a cozy seclusion from life down the mountain. The home was sold pre-completion in 2021.
